Our hotel’s “events” sheet for London listed “The BBC Good Food Show, London,” as a key weekend event, and that was an understatement. A quick Tube trip to Kensington/Olympia station took us to this wondrous exhibition of food vendors, chefs, wineries and even food gadgeteers who were selling such clever notion as the Tea Tool that allows you to squeeze as much tea out of a tea bag as humanly possible. Guess who bought one?

The big highlight? The stand on the second floor selling smoked tuna from Scotland. The earnest proprietor took the time to explain how his father taught him how to catch tuna (line caught) and the artisan method for smoking the tuna. It was as delicious as it sounds.

The other highlights were the amazing oils and vinegars from Mediterranean regions as well as a black truffle paste that could make a TV dinner taste like gourmet fare.
