View Article  Pink's Hot Dogs in LA
Out first trip to one of LA's food landmarks--Pink's, a hot dog place on LaBrea. Turtle, Vince and Johnny Drama were nowhere to be found.
View Article  The iPhone Arrives in LA

Amazing: three days, two cities, lots of people waiting in line for the iPhone. The LA crowd, which looked to be about 100, was much different than the more raucous New York folks who were already in line on Wednesday morning. My sense is that The Grove, an upscale shopping center near Fairfax, probably didn’t let iPhone campers line up until Friday morning. From the sound of things, the first folks got there at 4 a.m.

I was fortunate to talk to Jonathan, #1 in line, as well as a few others. In addition, we caught singer/rapper Macie Gray, who was hobnobbing with the crowd while handing out copiers of her new CD. In addition, we spotted a quartet of folks who were line sitting—that is they were paid for sitting in line all day so someone could score this cool little phone.

View Article  New York Awaits the iPhone

It’s a hot, humid day in New York City as the crowd gathers outside the massive Apple Store on 5th Avenue at 59th Street. A full two days before the iPhone hits the stores, eager fans wait in line to be the first on one this very big block to have the cool toy of the year. I had the chance to talk with one of the first few folks in line.

View Article  The Police In Concert
Here’s a clip from The Police concert at US Airways Arena. With respect to the band, no segment is longer than 30 seconds to give those on the fence about seeing them during the remaining part of their tour a preview of what awaits them. The show was excellent.

By the way, I did not sneak in a video camera. This was shot with my Nokia N93-I mobile phone.
View Article  Go ASU Sun Devils!
In a few hours, the ASU sun Devils take on UC-Irvine in the College World Series. Here are a few clips from last wekened's "Super Regionals" held at ASU's home field as they defeated Ole Miss in two straight games.

Features here are two key cogs: ASU's mascot Sparky and starting pitcher Mike Leake. Leake is a freshman with great potential. He was drafted in the 7th round in the 2006 draft by Oakland but (unless I missed something) was not drafted in the most recent baseball draft. Leake was named a freshman all-american.

As a long-time Denis Leary fan, I am hooked (no pun intended) on Rescue Me. Here's a look at Season 4:

View Article  Destin Beach Cam

The weather has turned a bit gray for our last few days in Destin, Florida. Today is the first day of the 2007 hurricane season (not the kind you drink, the kind that causes mass destruction). This quick beach cam of Destin is in hope that this year’s hurricane season is a light one; we hope to come back.
